The underground columned cathedral offers a striking and spectacular setting for events of all kinds. In the 1870s, Julius Bötzow opened what was then Berlin’s most modern brewery at Prenzlauer Allee 247, in today’s Kollwitz neighbourhood. The complex included a 4,000 sqm storage cellar and a beer garden with space for around 6,000 guests.
The beer quickly gained great popularity, and Julius Bötzow soon earned the title of “Purveyor to His Majesty the King of Prussia” – a distinction held by only a select few.
During the Second World War, large parts of the brewery complex were destroyed, including the family villa and the main taproom building.
According to legend, the brewery’s managing director at the time rescued two crocodiles from the Berlin Zoo during the war and hid them in the brewery’s fermentation tanks. Some say they may still be lurking in the historic cellar vaults to this day.
In the 1990s, techno enthusiasts and partygoers rediscovered the ruined underground vaults as a secret location for illegal raves.
In 2011, the journey began to awaken this Sleeping Beauty once again and today, DEEP has found its place within this extraordinary historic site as a unique event location.

In our kitchen, we do not use any animal species that are endangered, no meat linked to rainforest deforestation, and no plants, fruit, or vegetables that have a lasting negative impact on natural resources or habitats.
We serve only meat from animals raised in healthy, species-appropriate conditions, with 100% documented origin, breeding, husbandry, and slaughter.

The venue accommodates 100 to 500 guests with mixed seating or up to 700 guests for a standing reception. Its underground “Column Cathedral”, designed by Chipperfield Architects, provides a striking architectural setting for exceptional events.

Deep is particularly well suited to modern weddings with a club atmosphere, DJ and stage. If you prefer a more classic and historic setting, our Wartehalle is an excellent alternative.
Popular dates are often booked months in advance, so we recommend getting in touch as early as possible.
